Depressão: o que é isso?

Uma introdução fundamental para se entender a Depressão.

O termo Depressão pode significar um sintoma que faz parte de inúmeros distúrbios emocionais sem ser exclusivo de nenhum deles, pode significar uma síndrome traduzida por muitos e variáveis sintomas somáticos ou ainda, pode significar uma doença, caracterizada por alterações afetivas.

O público está certo ao estranhar a constante e abusiva presença desta tal Depressão em quase tudo que diz respeito aos transtornos emocionais, e os psiquiatras não estão menos certos ao procurarem descobrir uma ponta de Depressão em quase tudo que lhes aparece pela frente.

Do ponto de vista clínico, seria extremamente fácil e cômodo se a Depressão fosse caracterizada, exclusivamente, por um rebaixamento do humor com manifestação de tristeza, choro, abatimento moral, desinteresse, e tudo aquilo que sabemos ter uma pessoa deprimida.

A afetividade pode, além de normal, alterar-se até a Depressão, Euforia ou outros estados afetivos

afetividade compreende o estado de ânimo ou humor, os sentimentos, as emoções e as paixões e reflete sempre a capacidade de experimentar o mundo subjetivamente. A afetividade é quem determina a atitude geral da pessoa diante de qualquer experiência vivencial, promove os impulsos motivadores e inibidores, percebe os fatos de maneira agradável ou sofrível, confere uma disposição indiferente ou entusiasmada e determina sentimentos que oscilam entre dois pólos e transitam por infinitos tons entre esses dois pólos, a depressão e a euforia.

Desta forma, a afetividade é quem confere o modo de relação do indivíduo à vida e será através da tonalidade desse estado de ânimo que a pessoa perceberá o mundo e a realidade. Direta ou indiretamente a afetividade exerce profunda influência sobre o pensamento e sobre toda a conduta do indivíduo.

Na Inglaterra, o esporte ajuda no tratamento de doenças mentais

Uma iniciativa interessante está chamando a atenção da comunidade científica mundial envolvida em novas abordagens no tratamento de distúrbios psiquiátricos. Na Inglaterra, ganha notoriedade uma liga de futebol formada por times integrados somente por pacientes. São indivíduos portadores de doenças como esquizofrenia, depressão, ansiedade e transtorno bipolar que estão encontrando nos gramados um bom auxílio para o alívio dos sintomas.

A ideia de criar a Positive Mental Attitude Sports Foundation - Fundação de Esportes para Atitude Mental Positiva - foi da terapeuta ocupacional Janette Hynes, de Londres. Com base em sua experiência profissional na assistência a doentes mentais, ela percebeu que aqueles beneficiados por uma boa rede de contatos sociais e atividade física apresentavam melhora significativa. Janette somou a essa percepção sua paixão pelo futebol - ela mesma pratica o esporte há anos - e resolveu fundar o primeiro time.

Isso foi em 2005. De lá para cá, a ideia ganhou corpo. Hoje, são 18 equipes, divididas em três divisões espalhadas pela Inglaterra. Ao todo, participam dos jogos 453 pacientes. "E continuamos a crescer", contou à ISTOÉ Peter Smith, um dos coordenadores da liga. "Há seis novos times em formação." As partidas não seguem o modelo convencional. Elas duram 30 minutos, em vez dos 90 tradicionais, e as equipes são compostas por homens e mulheres. A frequência dos jogos depende da disponibilidade dos participantes, mas costuma ser em média de uma vez por semana.
